Description
Jamdani is a fine muslin textile which traces back its roots to Pre-independence era of Bangladesh. The saree and the fabric has been produced for centuries in the eastern parts of India as well as Bangladesh. Whether figured or flowered, jamdani is woven generally in cotton. This is a supplementary weft technique of weaving, where the artistic motifs are produced by a non-structural weft, in addition to the standard weft that holds the warp threads together and produces this fine weave.
The colours of fabrics are mesmerizing and even more astonishing is the simple method they use to produce bold geometrical designs.
